Zappos Sponsors Pet Adoptions

Zappos’ charitable arm is sponsoring pet adoption fees nationwide as part of a partnership with North Shore Animal League America.

Through Nov. 24, Zappos for Good will sponsor adoptions for dogs and cats at shelters across 15 states and 36 cities every Friday, announcing new cities every week. Prospective pet parents can vote for their city to be included by visiting Zappos.com/Pets. The brand created a 51-second video to promote the effort.

The initiative started Aug. 11 with three South California shelters: the Burbank Animal Shelter, Baldwin Park Animal Care Center and Agoura Animal Care and Control.

Friends On Us Fridays is an extension of Zappos’ annual Home for the Pawlidayz campaign in which adoption fees at shelters across the country are sponsored by Zappos from Black Friday through the holiday weekend. This campaign continues to grow each year and has led to more than 18,000 pet adoptions to-date.

“At our core, Zappos.com is a service company,” said Steven Bautista, karma kommando at zappos.com, in a release. “[This initaitive] is a way for us to extend our special brand of service to customers in a different way by rescuing both pets and humans by uniting them as BFFs. Our goal with Pawlidayz, and now Friends On Us Fridays, is bringing happiness to our customers in a heartfelt way.”

On Aug. 18, the effort moves to Illinois with the Animal Welfare League in Chicago, the Illinois Humane in Springfield and the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights. On Aug. 25, the offer will stand at three New York shelters: the Port Washington NSALA, Muddy Paws Rescue in Manhattan and Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn.

North Shore Animal League America is one of the world's largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization, which has saved the lives of over 1 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at risk of euthanasia.
