HuffPost Introduces Apple TV App, Moore Debuts 'TrumpiLeaks'

HuffPost has launched a new app on Apple TV. It is a collaboration between HuffPost and Alpha, its innovation and experimental projects team.

In a blog post, HuffPost's Head of Product Julia Beizer, and GM of Alpha Drew Lesicko wrote: "HuffPost has long been committed to video storytelling - on our own site and on social platforms. We couldn’t resist the draw of creating a bespoke experience for our content on Apple TV, dedicated to indulging in video."

The app opens with “The Top Five,” a curated set of the day’s five biggest videos. It has “done away” with “the standard ‘wall of thumbnails,’” they wrote, which are common on video streaming apps.

The app features curated playlists with "highly topical content," Beizer and Lesicko wrote.

Beizer told Publishers Daily that HuffPost will add video apps to Roku and Fire TV later this month. HuffPost has news apps for iOS and Android.

Separately, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore announced today in a HuffPost contributor post that he is launching a site to enable whistleblowers to communicate with him and his team: TrumpiLeaks.

“Patriotic Americans in government, law enforcement or the private sector with knowledge of crimes, breaches of public trust and misconduct committed by Donald J. Trump and his associates are needed to blow the whistle in the name of protecting the United States of America from tyranny,” he wrote.

Those with knowledge of such actions are being asked to use the site to securely send information, documents, photographs, video and audio recordings.

The TrumpiLeaks site provides tools for whistleblowers to get in touch with Moore's team, including a range of free, encrypted messaging apps, encrypted email and a snail mail address.

Moore continued in his post, "I know this is risky. I knew we may get in trouble. But too much is at stake to play it safe. And along with the Founding Fathers, I’ve got your back."
