Mitsubishi Motors will be the exclusive sponsor of ABC News’ “The Great American Eclipse” to help launch the 2018 Eclipse Cross CUV.
The live coverage event -- to be aired Monday, August 21 (1:00–3:00 p.m. EDT) -- is the first total solar eclipse visible in America in 38 years.
Mitsubishi will have five co-branded promos during the broadcast.
As part of the effort, the automaker will capture footage during the start of the eclipse just south of Salem, Oregon. The car itself will make its television debut in New York City’s Time Square during “Good Morning America” on August 21. Footage will air at the point of “totality” -- exclusively on The ABC Television Network.
It will also be live streamed on ABCNews.com and the “Good Morning America” Facebook page.
Between August 16, 2016 and August 15, 2017, Mitsubishi ran four spots 54 times on ABC, a total of $3.4 million in national advertising, according to iSpot.TV.
Looking at all national TV during that period, Mitsubishi ran 19 spots 22,486 times, a total media spend of $115.8 million.
