Which Super Bowl Celebrities, Brands Generated The Most Buzz?

In yet another take on the performance of Super Bowl LII ads, marketing technology company Amobee released data showing top-level findings the day after the big game. Data is based on digital content engagement from the company's Brand Intelligence platform.

Aside from analyzing the ads, analysts at Amobee looked at the celebrities generating the most tweets around the ads. Morgan Freeman, who appeared in the Mountain Dew ad, generated 26,074 tweets. Michael Jackson with 19,109 tweets from the Pepsi Ad ad came in at No. 2. Cardi B in the Alexa ad followed with 14,036 tweets, and Peter Dinklage in the Doritos ad came next with 13,202 tweets.

Danny DeVito in the M&M's ad with 8,439 tweets came in at No. 5, followed by Steven Tyler in the Kia Ad with 5,878 tweets, Jeff Goldblum in the Jeep ad with 5,025 tweets, Tiffany Haddish in the Groupon ad with 4,705 tweets, David Harbour in the Tide ad with 4,452 tweets, and Britney Spears in the Pepsi ad with 4,384 Tweets finished off the list.

One Super Bowl ad generated the most engagement -- although not necessarily for intended reasons. On February 5, about 42% of Super Bowl Ad-related digital content mentioned the Dodge RAM. Dodge's ad was framed around a Martin Luther King Jr. speech and the debate centered on whether the brand should have put a deceased civil rights leader in the context of selling trucks.

Mountain Dew was mentioned in 18% of all Super Bowl Ad-related digital content engagement, while Pepsi brought up in 11% of all Super Bowl Ad-related digital content engagement.

Budweiser also earned buzz the day after the Super Bowl, with 10% of mentions in all Super Bowl ad-related digital content. Amazon might have won many of the kudos for its Alexa Losing its Voice ad, but the ad only appeared in 9% of all Super Bowl ad-related digital content engagement.

The brands that generated the most Super Bowl Ad-related digital content engagement through 6 a.m. EST on February 5, 2018 were Dodge RAM, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, Budweiser, Alex, Doritos, Pringles, Groupon, Toyota, Tourism Australia, Stella Artois, and Bud Light, according to Amobee.
