The three-day Google event held at a Sicilian seaside resort gathered A-listers to talk about climate change and how to save the world. And it's loaded with irony.

Many of these mega-wealthy attendees might have discussed their own effect on the environment, based on the dozens of private jets they arrived in and the mega yachts many have been staying on, according to one media outlet.

In fact, guests were expected to arrive in 114 private jets, according to Italian press reports. 

A source told reporters at "Page Six" of the New York Post that "everything is about global warming, that is the major topic this year.” The source also said it will cost the tech giant some $20 million for the event. 

The Google event is meant to be a place where influential people get together to discuss how to make the world better, one attendee told the NYP.

But according to numbers crunched by the media outlet "114 first-class seats from Los Angeles to Palermo, Italy, where Camp guests landed, would spew an estimated 784,000 kilograms of CO2 into the air."

The media outlet also reported that attendees pay for their own travel to Sicily, but Google pays for everything at the Verdura Resort, which reportedly features two golf courses and rooms start at $903 a night.

Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin sent out the invitations.
