Verizon has suffered an outage in parts of the Southern United States, although Yahoo Mail does not appear to be affected.

Downdetector reports Verizon service problems, with complaints peaking around 10 a.m. on Friday. Of the reports coming in, 69% cite mobile phone issues, 27% mobile internet outages and 3% claim a total blackout.

Among the cities affected are Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Myrtle Beach, Durham and Greensboro. 

Fox Wilmington reports that “according to the Down Detector map, the outage is reaching much of North Carolina.

The downdetector map also shows minor outages in the Chicago area and Northern Ohio.

Downdetector says there are no problems with Yahoo Mail. While the outage could affect texting campaigns, it probably won’t hurt email efforts -- at least for now, judging by the current reports.
