CreativeDrive Acquires Pia Agency

Media content network CreativeDrive is acquiring the Pia Agency, a creative content agency that has worked with companies such as HP Inc., DreamWorks, PepsiCo Blizzard, Petco and Sony.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded by Cheryl (CEO) and Cliff Pia (president, Chief Creative Officer) in 1997, the 32-person agency produces advertising, digital, mobile and web content across offices in Portland, Oregon, San Diego and San Francisco.

With the acquisition, PIA will manage CreativeDrive’s crowdsourced freelance management system (FMS), which includes 20,000 video creators and journalists in 180 countries.

With its expertise in handling contractors, PIA will be tasked with addressing the process challenges many clients face when working with freelancers, like having the appropriate staff with the time to write compelling and comprehensive briefs, or managing how those briefs are ultimately interpreted by the freelancers, says an agency spokesperson.

The Pias will continue to manage the business, while taking on broader responsibilities with CreativeDrive.

Cheryl Pia will head up a newly formed Women’s Leadership Council and accompanying Women’s Empowerment Panel Series, which was launched in New York in October 2017; Cliff Pia has been named to the newly created position of Chief Creative Officer of CreativeDrive.

Palazzo served as financial advisor to Pia Agency in this transaction.
