Univision To Air Justice Network In 11 Markets

The Justice Network, which focuses on crime and investigation, will run in 11 Univision markets. The reach will cover 25% of the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco and Miami.

Justice’s distribution is now upped to 80 affiliates.

Justice Network, a digital multicast network, includes series such as “Extreme Forensics,” “New Detectives” and “Cold Case Files.” It combines true crime with BeSafe, an effort to protect communities by highlighting local most-wanted fugitives, missing children and safety tips, led by John Walsh.

The company recently hit a milestone — more than 100 missing children and 100 most-wanted fugitives featured on the network have been returned home safe or captured.

Barry Wallach, head of distribution, Justice Network, stated Univision’s desire to provide viewers with “diverse” programming and “serve its local communities made them an ideal fit for our network.”

John W. Eck, Univision Communications’ Chief Local Media Officer, added the alliance was “mutually beneficial," but also provides more "compelling content" for over-the-air viewers.

The Justice Network, which debuted in 2016, will add WGBO Chicago in August.

While Univision is the most-watched Spanish-language broadcast network in the U.S., the Justice Network will be aired in English.

Separately, Hispanicize Media Group (HMG), a multiplatform media company for multicultural millennials and Generation Z, has named Joe Uva, former president and CEO of Univision and Chairman of NBCU Hispanic Enterprises and Content, as Chairman/CEO.

Uva is charged with helping HMG add relevant content for brands and integrating original HMG assets — the Hispanicize events, DiMe Media and Hispanic Kitchen — into the fully acquired platforms of Exit7 and LatinaMoms.com.
