OTT Network Cheddar To Build Studios In WeWork Offices

Over-the-top streaming business network Cheddar is partnering with WeWork to build remote studios in WeWork offices across the country -- and eventually around the world.

The studios will be used by guests that appear on the network, and to cover local news stories.

The first location, according to Axios' Sara Fischer, will be in Hollywood, with other major U.S. cities to follow.

Most Cheddar interviews are conducted over Skype, with a handful filmed in person at the company's studios on Wall Street or in the Flatiron District of New York City. The WeWork deal will allow for higher-quality video, as guests can pop into local WeWork offices (if they don't work there already) and use more professional equipment.

While Cheddar started exclusively as a sort of CNBC for millennials, it has since expanded to include more lifestyle content, as well as videos designed to be shared on social media on topics like food, inventions and travel.

Cheddar is also facing some new competition. On Tuesday another streaming service with a financial focus launched. OTT network Karma is targeting a more niche subset of millennials: those who are serious investors or work in financial institutions.
