Havas New York Wins Con Ed Media, Creative Account

Con Edison, the regional power utility, has appointed Havas New York as its lead integrated agency of record for its media and creative accounts, following a review, the companies confirmed Tuesday.

Havas will handle advertising for Con Edison Company of New York, Inc. and Orange & Rockland Utilities, effective immediately. The agency will also support Con Edison’s communications that inform customers about various initiatives, including energy efficiency incentives, customer assistance programs, and new developments in the energy industry.

Con Ed spent more than $6 million on ads in 2016, according to Kantar Media. The client previously worked with The Gate/New York.

Frances A. Resheske, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at Con Edison, stated:  “As smart technology continues to evolve, we want to keep our customers updated on the tools and innovations that will make their lives better. Havas impressed us with their powerful data-fueled creative approach from the very start, not only through their understanding of the Con Edison brand, but how that manifests itself in our customers’ everyday relationship with their energy.”

Havas New York CEO Laura Maness added: “We believe strongly that the brand should be seen as a critical and celebrated part of New York culture. Con Edison is not just a utility in the city, but an icon of the city that connects us all.”

Con Ed retained Joanne Davis Consulting, NY, to assist in the agency review process.
