MRC Pulls Accreditation From Five Portable People Meter Markets, Arbitron Says It Will Fix Problems

Industry ratings watchdog the Media Rating Council has withdrawn accreditation for Arbitron's portable people meter ratings reports in five markets: Cleveland, Portland OR, Riverside-San Bernardino, Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater.

Arbitron said nine PPM markets remain accredited by MRC: Atlanta, Cincinnati, Houston (DMA), Kansas City, Milwaukee-Racine, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and St. Louis.

Arbitron's 34 other PPM markets continue to be unaccredited by the MRC.

Arbitron did not cite a reason for the MRC's withdrawal, but said it would continue to work with the industry's self-regulatory body to resolve its concerns for those and the other unaccredited markets.
