Email And Physical Addresses Used In Global Crisis Network

First responders can now rely on a global communications network based on a combining of email and physical addresses.

Alphabet Communication, a Canadian company, has assigned an email address to every physical address on the planet. The resulting worldwide network will facilitate emergency and crisis communications, the company says.

If an emergency occurs, an alert can be sent to all residents via email and text.

Rescue missions can then be targeted, based on responses such "I am safe," "I am away" or "I need help."

First responders will control the alerts. And user addresses will be authenticated via cell phone number verification, the company adds.

Names will not be collected for privacy reasons. But data will include the number of occupants in a residence and their age cohort. Colors will be assigned based on the response, with red signifying addresses that need immediate help.
