Americans’ skepticism about sources of information falls along a spectrum that can be plotted as five distinct groups, according to a new typology survey released this morning by the Pew Research Center.

The types fall along a spectrum determined by the relative level of trust and how much the person wants to learn about the information they are exposed to. The spectrum ranges from those who are “interested and engaged with information” to those who are “wary and stressed” about it.
